Plan a Tavily lookup that finds public documentation for a product question. Define the permitted query and the evidence needed to answer it before making search part of an agent workflow.
Tavily is not a current native Threetone integration. Credential storage and tool authoring are available preparation steps; live search execution is not established by saving them.
Have a provider account, an approved API key, and an owner for search cost and data-sharing decisions.
1

Specify the useful result

Set a focused query, result limit, and relevant domain restrictions where supported. Review Tavily’s Search API reference for the current request options and Bearer authentication. Do not use a customer transcript as an unreviewed search query.
2

Protect the credential and returned context

Store the key through a compatible auth connection or in your integration service. Limit returned content to useful excerpts and URLs. Treat retrieved text as untrusted source content that cannot change your access policy.
3

Keep uncertainty visible

Preserve source links and distinguish an empty result from provider failure. A relevance score does not establish that a statement is true. Set timeout, retry, and quota limits; report an incomplete search when those limits are reached.
Document the planned action through tool configuration. Any resulting proposal to send a message or change a record requires a separate authorized action.

Frequently asked questions

Have your service validate allowed options and enforce result, cost, and content limits. A generated request should not override those limits.
No. It only means this request returned no usable evidence. Explain that limitation and let the reader refine the question.
