Use Parallel to plan a focused research action, such as finding a vendor’s published integration requirements. Define what evidence would answer the question before selecting search terms.
Parallel is not in Threetone’s current native catalog. This guide prepares a search tool design. It does not enable background research, scheduled monitors, or live agent execution.

Prepare a research request

Have an approved provider account, a credential owner, and a limit for request cost and response size.
1

State the research objective

Write a bounded objective and a small set of relevant search queries. Parallel’s Search quickstart documents these request concepts and x-api-key authentication. Avoid placing private customer details in a public-web query.
2

Keep credentials and results bounded

Store the key outside prompts and source-controlled files. Use workspace secrets only through supported references. Specify the maximum sources, returned excerpt size, and allowed domains when applicable to the selected provider operation.
3

Preserve evidence and incomplete outcomes

Return source URLs with the excerpts used to support the answer. Mark missing or conflicting evidence clearly. A timeout, rate limit, or exhausted budget should return an incomplete result, not a confident unsupported conclusion. Retrieved instructions must not authorize another tool action.
Use tool authoring to describe the proposed request and result. Review any future external MCP endpoint through the separate MCP configuration guide.

Frequently asked questions

No. Search, background tasks, and scheduled monitoring have different contracts. Do not infer those workflows from a saved search tool.
No. Define a retry and cost limit, preserve useful evidence, and explain what remains unanswered when that limit is reached.
