Chat mode configures an agent to accept text without requiring ASR or TTS. Set conversation_config.conversation.text_only to true when creating or authoring the configuration.

Configure text behavior

Use a model returned by List available LLMs. Write a concise first message, define the task in the prompt, and select the base response language. A text-only configuration cannot use the recognized_language response policy because it has no recognized speech input.
This fragment belongs inside conversation_config; preserve the rest of the selected snapshot when saving a complete server draft.

Review publication separately

Managed text-only configurations can pass publication when model compatibility, referenced resources, and workflow validation succeed. With default backups, a compatible platform backup chain must be available; use LLM cascading to understand the alternatives.
Custom-model publication remains unavailable. A published managed text-only version also does not establish a live chat transport or allocate traffic.
Review versions and drafts, client events, and web deployment before connecting a browser.
