The dashboard and API can store interruption settings. They do not prove working audio interruption handling or cancellation of an external action. Live tool and conversation execution require separate verification.

The tool’sinterruption_mode has three values:
The setting does not define a cancellation endpoint. Even when a caller changes their mind, a remote write may already have completed. The service handling that action needs its own way to inspect or cancel work where appropriate.

Locate the correct resource
For a system tool, open the agent’s Tools > System tools panel, enable the intended tool, and open its settings. For a shared client or webhook tool, use the workspace tool editor.

Review the interruption choice
In the system-tool editor, expand Advanced > Interruptions. Allow, Disable during tool, and Disable through turn correspond to the values above.

Save at the right level
A system-tool sheet’s Save changes the agent working copy. Preserve the reviewed definition in a complete server draft for API read-back. A shared tool’s Save changes that shared resource instead.

Prepare an interruption review
Record what should happen if the caller interrupts before dispatch, during a slow response, or after completion. Keep expected conversation behavior separate from the external action’s final state.
execution_mode controls a different requested behavior: when the tool runs. conversation_config.agent.disable_first_message_interruptions is also separate and applies to the first message. Do not use either as a substitute for the tool’s interruption policy.
