# User interviews

> Plan a consistent research interview, consent process, data collection, and human review before scaling agent-assisted sessions.

Start with a research question and a small set of interviews. An agent can be configured around a repeatable question sequence, but reliable findings still need appropriate recruitment, consent, and human interpretation.

## Design the interview

Define the audience, purpose, expected duration, and topics you will avoid. Write open questions that do not imply a preferred answer. Include instructions for skipping a question, stopping the interview, and responding when the participant asks for a person.

Use [prompting](/agents-platform/configure/agent-behavior/prompting) to separate interview instructions from reference material. Use [data collection](/agents-platform/monitor/analysis/data-collection) to plan fields such as the participant's task and observed friction. An extracted value should remain traceable to the underlying conversation.

## Review before scaling

Create representative test cases, including short answers, unclear answers, and requests to withdraw. Review consent and [privacy settings](/agents-platform/monitor/privacy/overview) before collecting personal information. Saved settings do not establish retention enforcement.

Keep a sample of direct conversation reviews alongside summary metrics. Record which configuration version was used, and distinguish an observed issue from a researcher's interpretation.

<Note>Live session initiation, automated testing, and batch calling remain gated. This guide prepares the research workflow; it does not claim an available automated interview campaign.</Note>
