# SambaNova

> Prepare a SambaNova cloud Chat Completions candidate and review endpoint, model, and streaming behavior before saving a draft.

Use SambaNova's cloud Chat Completions endpoint as a candidate for the Threetone connection probe. Confirm the model and endpoint in the provider account before testing, especially when using a dedicated deployment.

  The current custom-model workflow supports connection testing and candidate drafts. It does not support publication or agent execution with a custom model.

## Candidate settings

| Model ID | Copy the exact chat model identifier available in your provider account. |
| API Key | A workspace secret or Secret environment reference holding the provider API key. |

SambaNova's [endpoint configuration guide](https://docs.sambanova.ai/docs/en/integrations/vscode) documents the full cloud Chat Completions URL and notes that dedicated deployments may use a different URL. Threetone expects its base URL, with the trailing `/chat/completions` path removed. Do not assume a separate enterprise endpoint uses the shared cloud path or authentication method.

## Validate the candidate

    Check the account, model identifier, endpoint, and credential scope together. Use the provider's current endpoint details rather than copying an example model that may no longer be available.

    Choose **Custom LLM** in the agent editor and add the candidate settings. Environment references resolve against production for the probe. Review the [custom-model guide](/agents-platform/advanced/custom-models/overview) before selecting a credential.

  <Step title="Run the connection test">
    The dashboard's **Test connection** action sends a real request. The endpoint must accept streaming Chat Completions with usage reporting requested and emit assistant text. Provider access or a successful nonstreaming example alone does not establish this behavior.

If the probe fails, inspect the endpoint path, credential access, exact model name, and stream shape. A dedicated endpoint that requires unsupported authentication or API parameters needs a separate integration review; do not bypass [probe policy](/agents-platform/advanced/custom-models/compatible-endpoints).

Save a complete server draft only when you want to preserve the candidate. A dismissed editor sheet or failed Publish action does not create a released version. See [managed models](/overview/models) for the separate managed selection path.
